Thanks to Clarence for sharing these amazing paintings of the sea by Ran Ortner. His work is inspired by the long sailing trips he took with his family when he was a child, as well as his passion for surfing. The huge paintings of sea water are stunning, but I also loved the look of some of his installations using sand – check out his website for more images.

We have previously included minimalist posters for films and books, etc on Friday Favourites, so just for a change we thought we’d share this latest project by Swedish graphic designer Viktor Hertz, who has made ‘maximalist’ posters centred around songs by particular musicians. His other pictogram posters for songs were fairly simple, usually using a single image to describe the song. This time he’s put many pictograms into one image, using icons from the fabulous Noun Project – creating a poster that gives an overview of an artist’s work, in a kind of code. See how many of the songs you can guess. The project is crowdfunded, and you can buy posters here. Found via Flavorwire.

I love these playful rabbit and deer chairs created by Merve Kahraman, which I found via Dornob. The Hybrid chairs are inspired by mythological creatures, so when you sit on them you are, for a moment, transformed into a half  human, half animal thing.

Thanks to Paul M for finding these beautiful and evocative multi-exposure photographs, by Swedish designer and photographer Christoffer Relander. Found via Colossal.

Paul also shared these stunning digitally dssembled paintings by Russ Mills. These were created using a mix of both traditional methods such as painting and sketching in pencil, coupled with scanned textures of images, such as paint blotches. Also found by the ever-inspiring Colossal site.
